Welcome to “Northwoods Musings,” a weekly devotional for the Valleybrook Community, written by Dave Paukner. Valleybrook has been privileged to enjoy Dave, his wife, Roxanne, and their three children, Lyle, Mitchell, and Dawn, during the summers for the past few years, as they would leave their home in the Chicago area for the Chippewa Valley. This fall, however, we are pleased to inherit their family on a permanent basis.

You may know Roxanne from her sax playing on worship team. Dave is a wonderful Bible teacher and writer, and he has agreed to use his gifts to uplift and challenge our Community with a balance of seriousness and humor, as we journey into “More and Better Life” together. The inspiration for his writings comes from God (Psalm 1:1-2), and the style of his devotional takes it shape from the tradition of the Old Testament rabbis that would use every day observations to point people to the Truths of God revealed in His Word. Dave extends an invitation to all of us to meditate deeply and continuously on these Truths that are meant to transform all of us. They are not just reserved for special occasions; they are intended for every moment of our lives.

Dave says, “I have been blessed to learn that about God’s words; I hope you will be too.” And with that, welcome to “Northwoods Musings…”
